This training will help prepare Peer Recovery Specialists to take the IC&RC Peer Recovery Specialist certification examination. This training includes understanding exam eligibility requirements, reviewing examination administration, scheduling, canceling, rescheduling, and studying test-taking strategies. Must have completed 46 CEUs to attend.
This training will help Peer Recovery Specialists gain knowledge and skills for advocacy. This training includes defining advocacy and understanding the difference between Little a and Big A advocacy. Peers will gain an understanding of the methods, skills and traits for successful advocacy. 3 CEUs available.

This training will enable Peer Recovery Specialists and other substance use disorder and behavioral health staff to identify conflict & unmet human needs which create conflicts, identify forms of communication & techniques to transform conflicts, and use skills to conduct quality checks of a transformed conflict. MABPCB CEU’S provided by trainer.
The Behavioral Health Administration invites Peer Recovery Specialists to attend upcoming Peer Recovery Specialist Forums.
These forums will provide peers with an opportunity to learn from the State about the latest funding initiatives, including Medicaid reimbursement, as well as innovative workforce developments and resources targeting peers in Maryland. Peers will also have an opportunity to participate in question-and-answer sessions with BHA’s Consumer Affairs team.
This opportunity is specifically for Peer Recovery Specialists, Certified Peer Recovery Specialists, and Registered Peer Supervisors who are themselves peers.
The CCAR Ethical Considerations training is a two-day training for peers. A variety of ethical considerations will be explored including defining the coaching role and functions, coaching standards, issues of vulnerability, ethical decision making, performance enhancement and legal issues. 16 CEUs are available upon completion.
This training will give Peer Specialists the skills to engage with the individuals they serve within their organization that has suffered from some trauma, along with knowing their role. Awareness of secondary trauma and compassionate fatigue will allow the Peer Specialist information that supports self-care and prevents burn-out.
This is a 4-day training designed for individuals interested in becoming Peer Support Specialists. The training will provide individuals with the skills needed to guide, mentor, and support anyone who would like to enter into sustaining long-term recovery. 30 CEUs are available for this training.
This training aims to introduce peers to the hard and soft skills that hiring managers look for when hiring peers and to equip peers with the ability to write a peer resume. Peers will also gain the confidence they need during the interview process.
Participants will receive 4 CEUs in Mentor & Education.
The training objective is to inform Recovery Coaches about how they can access recovery and the systems that facilitate it by advocating for both the recoveree and themselves. This would allow them to help remove barriers and obstacles to recovery. Participants that attend will receive 5 CEUs in the Advocacy Domain.
