  Updates                                            October 2016
BHSB Releases 2017 Advocacy and Policy Priorities

Today, Behavioral Health System Baltimore (BHSB) released its 2017 Advocacy and Policy Priorities, which include a set of policy recommendations to advance behavioral health and wellness in Baltimore City and Maryland.

In 2017, BHSB will focus our advocacy efforts toward advancing policies, programs, and practices within four broad areas:
  • Strengthen and expand prevention and early intervention to reduce risk and increase community resilience
  • Promote access to comprehensive, integrated community-based treatment and recovery support services
  • Support criminal justice system reform that redirects spending for incarceration toward the behavioral health system
  • Promote parity and strengthen behavioral health system infrastructure and workforce
The full document is available on BHSB's website here. BHSB looks forward to continuing to work with lawmakers and our state and local partners to support the public behavioral health system and people living with mental illness and substance use disorder in our community.
