7 tips for taking care of yourself this winter

Do shorter days, colder weather and the holiday hustle and bustle have you feeling blue this winter? It's normal.

Use these tips to get through the season,

and remember, you are not alone.

Make the holiday activities that bring you joy your top priority. Save other plans for after the holidays.

Suggest a new gift exchange to deal with rising prices. Try white elephant or Secret Santa.

Honor traditions you had with people you've lost. Or, make new traditions.

Unfollow social media accounts you know you will be tempted to compare yourself to. Or take a break from social media for a few days!

Limit the time you spend at stressful gatherings. Announce your plans to head out by a certain time when arrive. If you can't leave, choose something you can do anytime you need a 15-minute break.

Write it out. Journal about the things that might cause you stress and then write your plan for dealing with these scenarios. Make space to write about what you're thankful for too!

Call, text or chat the 988 Helpline if you need a break, someone to talk to or immediate emotional support.
