Casey Brent is a career public servant who has dedicated her professional life to leadership and executive excellence across local, state, and federal levels of government. With a career defined by operational strategy and a commitment to public welfare, Casey brings a wealth of experience in navigating complex regulatory landscapes to the BHSB Board.
Her leadership tenure is marked by high-impact roles at both the state and federal levels. Casey previously served as the Director of External Relations at the Maryland Public Service Commission, where she managed critical stakeholder engagement and communication strategies. At the federal level, she served as a Special Assistant in the Office of Community Services (OCS) within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), contributing to national efforts in community health and economic stability.
Most recently, Casey’s impact on Maryland’s health landscape was further solidified through her work previously with the Maryland Department of Health’s Behavioral Health Administration, where she served in key executive capacities, including Chief of Staff of Operations and Acting Director of Operations. Her unique vantage point, having held diverse leadership positions across multiple branches of government, allows her to bridge the gap between high-level policy and community-centered service delivery.
Casey graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with an MA in Art Historical Studies and an MSW from the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
A resident of Baltimore, Casey is deeply invested in the city’s health outcomes and equity. Beyond her professional achievements, she is a Certified Master Gardener who enjoys local environmental stewardship and is an avid traveler with a passion for exploring new cultures.
