Brooklyn Homes Statement

Statement from Behavioral Health System Baltimore on Shooting at Brooklyn Homes

BALTIMORE - Behavioral Health System Baltimore (BHSB) is saddened about the shooting at Brooklyn Homes which claimed two lives and injured 28 people. It is a tragedy for all Baltimoreans, and we offer our condolences and support to the families directly affected by the shooting and to the Brooklyn community.

 

As the local behavioral health authority for Baltimore City, BHSB is a resource for supporting emotional health and wellness across the city. Coping with traumatic events can be stressful and affects people differently.

 

Residents of the Brooklyn neighborhood or anyone who needs emotional support can call or text 988 to speak to counselors. The 988 Helpline is free, confidential, and available 24/7. BHSB will also work with behavioral health providers and community organizations to ensure residents get the emotional support they need today and in the weeks to come.

Behavioral Health System Baltimore (BHSB) is a nonprofit organization established by Baltimore City to perform the governmental function of managing Baltimore City's behavioral health system-the system of care that addresses emotional health and well-being and provides services for individuals with substance use and mental health disorders. As such, BHSB serves as the local behavioral health authority for Baltimore City and works to improve access to a full range of quality behavioral health services and advocate for innovative approaches to prevention, early intervention, treatment and recovery to help build healthier individuals, stronger families and safer communities in Baltimore City.
