Helping Baltimore Youth and Families Access Behavioral Health Care

For many families with behavioral health needs, navigating the system of care can be half the battle.

To commemorate Mental Health Awareness Month, BHSB recently hosted a conversation with advocates and practitioners working to ensure that more Baltimore youth and families can access the resources they need to thrive.

BHSB in Action

Every week you can find BHSB in communities and schools across Baltimore City, sharing information and resources. Over the last few months, we've hosted National Prevention Week activities for Baltimore City students and Community Safety Day at ABC Park. Our Bmore POWER street team provided overdose prevention supplies to residents from Penn North to Highlandtown (here's their schedule). For Mental Health Awareness Month, our 988 volunteers visited the Flower Mart to share information about the helpline.

Looking Ahead to Summer

Baltimore Pride: Look out for BHSB on the parade route at this year's Pride Festival on June 13. The parade begins at noon at Charles and North.

Recovery Month: BHSB and the Maryland Peer Advisory Council are creating a community calendar to help uplift and support Recovery Month celebrations taking place across Baltimore throughout September. If you would like your event to be featured in the calendar, please submit your information by July 31.

Harm Reduction in Your Community

The Baltimore City Health Department (BCHD) is accepting applications for sites to host harm reduction vending machines that will provide free essential supplies such as naloxone (also known as Narcan), Fentanyl and Xylazine test strips, safer sex kits, and wound care kits. The machines are part of BCHD's efforts to reduce the spread of infections, prevent overdoses, and promote safer practices among individuals who may be at risk.

For additional information or to submit an application, visit the website.
