Policy Priorities

2018 Policy Priorities

  • Prevention and Early Intervention: Promote policies and practices that strengthen and expand prevention and early interventions to reduce risk, mitigate the impact of trauma and toxic stress, increase community resilience, and improve behavioral health and wellness
  • Treatment and Recovery Services:  Advance policies, programs and practices that promote access to comprehensive, integrated community treatment and a full array of support services for people with mental illness and substance use disorders across the lifespan.
  • Criminal Justice System: Identify and promote criminal justice system reforms that redirect spending for corrections toward the behavioral health system and support interventions to improve access to treatment and recovery support services.
  • Behavioral Health System Infrastructure: Advocate for policies and reforms that promote parity and strengthen the behavioral health system infrastructure and workforce.
